5S good practice: Create an effective working environment

After 3 months of implementing the 5S Good Practice Guidance Program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Trinh Nhi Agricultural Production and Investment Joint Stock Company (Lam Dong) has built a professional working environment, helping the company improve high labor productivity, creating good image for domestic and foreign customers.

As an enterprise operating in the field of agricultural production and processing, after completing the investment project to build a processing factory in May 2018, along with the successful construction and application of the Management System. Quality is ISO 22000: 2005, Trinh Nhi Company has registered to participate in the 5S Good Practice Guide Program of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Ms. Pham Thi An Binh – Head of Administration Department of Trinh Nhi Company – shared, with the guidance of consultants, the company established a 5S Steering Committee, at the same time, invested nearly 30 million VND in banner printing items, 5S slogans, 5S message boards, 5S rewards with trays, shelves, shelves, labels, etc”. However, since the factory just came into operation from the end of May 2018, so production activities are still not stable. Workers do not have a fixed schedule, so it is difficult to assign personnel to perform 5S daily “- Ms. Pham Thi An Binh said.

To solve the above problems, the consultants and the 5S Board focused on training and guiding the 5S for workers in order to create 5S awareness for employees. After 3 months of implementing 5S good practices (from September to December 2018), 100% of the company’s officers and employees have been participating in 5S training, 100% of the departments have been set up to manage 5S visualization. and have 5S evaluation criteria, 100% of participating departments are evaluated 5S meeting the evaluation standards agreed by consultants and the company’s 5S Board.

In order to create habits and routines for employees, the company has launched 2 forms of 5S assessment: the team leader self-assesses his area of ​​responsibility daily and the 5S Board (deputy committee, secretary of 5S) progresses. conduct weekly cross-reviews. The company has set up a work exchange group on Zalo social network to exchange 5S related information; at the same time, issued regulations on 5S rewarding to individuals and collectives who excellently perform 5S monthly, individuals who have big and small initiatives to benefit the company.

According to Ms. Pham Thi An Binh, the biggest difficulty in the implementation process is changing the habits of employees. However, with perseverance, persistence, this knot has been gradually removed. Up to now, after more than 1 year of 5S implementation, all departments, production areas of the factory have applied the 5S model standard. The application of 5S helps a clean, airy working environment, smoother work, much shorter time, high work efficiency, does not lead to errors. Thanks to that, employee psychology is happy, comfortable, and has improved self-awareness. The neat arrangement also contributes to reducing sample analysis time, avoiding sample delays, delaying appointments with customers, etc. The company was granted a certificate of 5S / 2018 / DN-30 on December 20, 2018 by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. about 5S good practices in businesses.

According to the Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality of Lam Dong Province, the 5S model if deployed more widely in many enterprises will contribute to significantly improving labor productivity. These model businesses are supported with funding to build, expand management systems, productivity and quality tools as well as support in terms of communication and visiting and learning other businesses.
