1/6 Food Company: Effective from applying ISO 22000

The application of the food safety management system model according to ISO 22000 has helped 1/6 Food Joint Stock Company improve management capacity, improve product quality, and save significant costs for production activities.

In the framework of the Program “Improving productivity and quality of products and goods of Vietnamese enterprises to 2020”, 1/6 Food Joint Stock Company has been developed by QUACERT (General Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality) implement the Food Safety Management System according to ISO 22000.

After the deployment process, QUACERT’s evaluation experts said that the application of ISO 22000 has brought very practical effects for businesses. Initially, the Company had a total of 20 people working in two ISO departments; Each employee is paid an additional 1.5 million VND / person / month, equivalent to 360 million VND each year. After integrating the two ISO boards into one, the cost of this activity also decreased significantly.

In addition, the application of ISO 22000 also helps the Company save internal evaluation time. Integrating the ISO group into one has shortened the internal audit time to only 4 days per audit (fewer than 8 days per assessment period). Previously, meetings to control the two systems were often held, after integration, the management would have access to information with only one briefing meeting, significantly shortening the time to organize.

In parallel with the efficiency of cost and time reduction, ISO 22000 also helps to change the perception of employees. Operators directly control the work more effectively, the integrated document system is redesigned in a clear, uniform sequence of related issues.

The streamlined management system helps managers manage their work, avoid overlaps in processing, and have more time to focus on implementing key tasks. Thanks to the integration system applied by the Company, clearly defining the functions and tasks of each department, the coordination of the managers is more favorable, all jobs are identified and clarified from the beginning. In addition, the system also helps specialized management units and employees to work together to perform related tasks. At the same time, the identification of quality objectives focuses on key requirements, so it is easier to achieve the set goals.

In 1/6 Food Joint Stock Company, after applying the management system model according to ISO 22000, it brings a very significant effect. In the coming time, the Company’s leadership needs to continue to apply and at the same time improve continuously to improve product quality further.
