Tan Phu Plastic saves billions of VND/year thanks to technological innovation

Tan Phu Plastic Company (TPP) is a company specializing in manufacturing and supplying plastic products such as machinery and equipment industry – agriculture, construction, packaging products, multi-layer bottles and PET bottles serving the food industry products, health, etc.

TPP is one of the first units in Vietnam specializing in manufacturing and supplying HDPE, PET, PP, ABS plastic products. The company has a total capacity of 2,000 tons/month, ranked in the Top 5 in terms of market share of industrial plastics in Vietnam. The Company’s products are distributed in the Northern, Central and Southern markets and exported to foreign countries.

In 2012, the company boldly invested in replacing old lighting fixtures with high-performance light bulbs; investing in and replacing old machinery and equipment lines with new generation machinery and equipment chains; upgrade and improve old machines by installing inverters for engines with variable loads. This project has helped the company save more than 1.2 billion VND electricity/year.

In 2010, the Company invested 1 extruder, 1 cap cutting machine with lower power consumption than the old generation machine. The result is an annual savings of over VND 250 million in electricity and VND 170 million in the reuse of scrap; reduce 121.2 tons of CO2 emission/year, reduce solid waste 56.52 tons/year.

In addition, the company has also invested in three 700T, 800T and 1,000T hydraulic presses that use servo power saving 40% compared to the previous generation of hydraulic presses. The benefit from saving electricity of this project is more than 700 million dong/year, and the project also saves over 3.3 billion dong/year from reuse scrap. Thanks to installing inverters for the main motors, insulation covers for Thermistors, screws, plastic injection machines, ingot presses, and extrusion blow molding machines, the company has saved 15-25% of the energy consumed. In addition, this solution also helps reduce heat radiation, reduce the working environment temperature, creating comfort for workers.

According to Ms. Thuong Thi Ngoc Tuyet, Deputy Director of Tan Phu Plastic Company, “The response to energy conservation has helped Tan Phu Plastic reduce 326.88 tons of CO2 emissions/year, reduce the amount of solid waste to the environment 340, 8 tons/year. In 1 year, the company saved 6.8 billion dong in energy costs”. This result has helped the company reduce production costs and increase product competitiveness in the market.

Therefore, Tan Phu Plastics will continue to gradually invest in replacing the old equipment lines with new technology lines with lower energy consumption per unit of product, higher productivity for businesses to use the energy of savings, aiming for the goal of sustainable development and environmental protection.
